Remembrance Day
Some of you may have noticed a difference as you enter our community. Situated in front of the center, several rows of crosses have been erected. These crosses represent former, beloved members of Pointe du Chêne who bravely served in our military during World War I, World War II and the Korean War. They are fathers, brothers, uncles and sons, friends and neighbors. Their names are part of the fabric of our community and as we lead up to Remembrance Day, we invite everyone to take a moment to pay their respects. Although they are no longer here with us, their memories live on.
This would not have been possible were it not for the effort of Faye Gallant Rosenberg, a veteran herself and daughter of a veteran. It has been Faye’s mission to ensure that these individuals who served our country with pride, are never forgotten. Their stories deserve to be told and Faye has embraced this project and made it her mission to bring awareness and understanding to the names we see on these crosses.
Faye would like to recognize the contribution of several people as they have helped to bring her vision to fruition. Reg Smith who assisted with the construction of the crosses and Susie and Taylor Wallace who assisted with adding the names to each cross. Thank you for making this project a reality.
If you do not see a family member, friend or neighbor listed below and they were a veteran, please reach out to Faye directly and she will be able to assist you.
